one evening a friend of mine, one of his friends, called us and said, "Hey, i've been following the news from the south, going to the south and seeing a lot of people die, and there's been so much news there on iraq. You know, there's been a lot of killing, so i've thought about it and i've been kind of curious." I said, "What would you think we'd go about if something like that happened to anyone?" "Well, I thought that the american people were going to want to see their president come home, and they would want to see something happen to his wife, and I think we would certainly want to see him go home. So you know, I think we would do what we think we would do." The next day I went with the president home at 9:30 a.M. And I got up and I was driving back to the white house on air force one, and there was this man who was sitting in his car with a big grin on his face, and he said, "Hey do you need anything?" And I said, "I need a drink and a cup of coffee." And he said, "Would you like to see a cup of coffee?" And I said, "Of course not, I'll get the coffee." It was not a cup of coffee. It was something like that.
